retirement

This is exactly how I want retired life to be. In a long, long time from now...

Hackett Inspiration

It's a foggy, dreary and dark kind of morning, but I'm finding a bit of inspiration in this behind the scenes video from Hackett's AW11 shoot.

Iconic Brand - Barbour

Barbour is an iconic British brand that has been supplying fishermen, hunters and farm hands since 1894. My favourite thing about this brand is that they aren't trying to be fashionable - they're just making quality, functional clothing with the practicalities of the consumer in mind. The brand certainly reflects a picturesque, rural, wealthy, country lifestyle, where all one has to worry about is where they want to fish when they wake up. And it's this image that helps sell the brand to city consumers who long for that escape to a simple country lifestyle.

I think that one of the most interesting trends lately is "function over fashion". People seem to be buying clothing that firstly serve a purpose, and secondly happen to look good. It certainly alludes to a time when people appeared to be effortlessly cool by wearing clothes that just made sense. Think James Dean, Paul Newman, and Steve Mcqueen. Men who were "rugged" and classic, yet became fashion icons without even trying to be. It's a good example for modern men to follow.
