retirement

This is exactly how I want retired life to be. In a long, long time from now...

Hackett Inspiration

It's a foggy, dreary and dark kind of morning, but I'm finding a bit of inspiration in this behind the scenes video from Hackett's AW11 shoot.

Iconic Brand - Barbour

Barbour is an iconic British brand that has been supplying fishermen, hunters and farm hands since 1894. My favourite thing about this brand is that they aren't trying to be fashionable - they're just making quality, functional clothing with the practicalities of the consumer in mind. The brand certainly reflects a picturesque, rural, wealthy, country lifestyle, where all one has to worry about is where they want to fish when they wake up. And it's this image that helps sell the brand to city consumers who long for that escape to a simple country lifestyle.

I think that one of the most interesting trends lately is "function over fashion". People seem to be buying clothing that firstly serve a purpose, and secondly happen to look good. It certainly alludes to a time when people appeared to be effortlessly cool by wearing clothes that just made sense. Think James Dean, Paul Newman, and Steve Mcqueen. Men who were "rugged" and classic, yet became fashion icons without even trying to be. It's a good example for modern men to follow.

Back

It's a new year, and it's time to get back at this. Here is where I will post some of the things that I find inspiring and interesting... It's nothing more than a simple outlet where I can share some pictures and stories from places I go, and where I can post some cool things I find around the web. And hopefully along the way I can post some of the creative pursuits and projects that I undertake in the coming months.

If you feel like reading, then feel free...

Luke.

Mr. Porter Part Two

More from Mr. Porter, this time focussing on denim and trousers.. Some great brands here... Mostly raw and selvedge denim... Pick your favorites - I've got mine.

Pashley Bespoke Bicylcles

I'm a sucker for anything handmade, and I'm a serious advocate for quality products built with pride. This bicycle manufacturer fits all these traits beyond their definition.. Pashley bicycles, located in Stratford upon Avon, manufactures made to order bicycles that have classic design and are built entirely by hand... As England's oldest manufacturer of bicycles, they've obviously gotten something right in their design.

Check out this video to get an idea of what I'm talking about:

Mr. Porter Part 1

I posted a couple of videos earlier from a great website called Mr. Porter. Now it's time to showcase some of the clothes that they sell.. Seriously though, this website is so much more than just another online webshop showcasing incredible brands–it's also a great source for inspiration, articles, photos and videos. Check it out and be pleased.
