Essentials: iPad

It's my first week owning an iPad, and it's already changed the way I use and view technology. I love it! Perfectly designed, it feels like I'm holding a tiny piece of the future every time I pick it up. There's so much that I can do with it, it's hard to know where to begin.

There's something to be said for Apple's smart cover. It is perfect. Magnetically glides into place with no issues every single time. Wakes the iPad up and puts it to sleep like a magical security blanket. And the leather is so nice and smooth. The designers at Apple really thought this one through.

So far my favourite app has got to be Flipboard. I was skeptical at first, but once I learned how to import my own RSS feeds and really customise everything I fell in love. It makes it a pleasure to view everything from social media updates, to Vimeo videos, to the news. Beautifully laid out, easy to use app.

And how about all these other cases? Designers are really putting work into making iPad cases that compliment its design. I've always been weary of covering my great looking Apple hardware in a crappy looking, plastic, bulky case. But these are all designs worthy of holding such a device.

Advertising Genius

Apple's Think Different ads that ran from 1997 to 2002 probably have to be considered some of the greatest in history...

Apple Evolution

This is cool to see... Only goes up until 2008, but the really cool stuff to see is the pre-1997 stuff. Click on the picture for the hi-res version.

websites ten years ago

This is fascinating... A few popular websites as they looked ten or twelve years ago. It's really cool to see how far the internet has come in the last decade–from simple text websites to an entire multimedia experience... I wonder what the internet will look like in another ten years?

Good ol' Conestoga mall is getting an Apple store! Pretty excited about visiting when I'm home over Christmas...
